Getting Started

Getting started with VTAP 2.0 is simple. Once you have an Internet connection, click here to launch the virtual program. You will need the latest version of Adobe Shockwave Player in order to lauch, and it will take a few minutes for the application to lauch the first time, but should be quick and easy every time thereafter.

Accessing Existing DRASH Complexes

VTAP 2.0 provides a number of existing DRASH complexes that can be accessed via the following link.

DRASH Complexes

Pull up a complex and edit it to your specifications within the program before sending it in, or simply reference the existing complex when contacting your DRASH representative.

Selecting DRASH Equipment

Take a look at Section D and Section G in the left side of the screen. In it, you will find every DRASH shelter and trailer model available. Each model is listed in OD Green and Tan. Clicking on a model allows you to view the shelter or trailer specifications, which are visible in the upper left corner of the screen via Section A. Once you have selected the model you are interested in, click the Add Product button. This will automatically transfer the selected shelter to the center grid located in Section B. You can then move the item around on the grid via your mouse. Turn the item, via the arrow icons, or delete an item by selecting the X underneath each item. Items can be relabelled by selecting the i button at the top of each product. See the below diagram for X and i icons.

Selecting Colors:

The program allows you to simplify your search by listing only green or tan items when selecting products in the left product menu bar. Simply click on the squares located next to the first level listings in Section G to select all green items, all tan items or both tan and green items.

Complexing Items in the Grid:

Once you have more than one shelter on the grid (Section B), you can attach them together. DRASH shelters are modular, so most will attach to each other to form small or large complexes via Connector Sets. A few, such as the SAS and Arctic Tent are meant to serve as stand alone shelters. Connection points can be either doors (indicated by green highlighted areas) or openings at the ends of some shelters (not highlighted). When trying to attach shelters by doors or openings, a correct attachment will display a green arrow (See Figure 1), while an incorrect attachment will display an X over a green arrow key (See Figure 2). Trailers can be placed near the shelters and do not attach to each other or the shelters on the screen.

Measurements:

Selecting an item in the product menu (Section D) or the grid (Section B) allows you to see individual shelter and trailer specifications in Section A. While creating your DRASH complex, VTAP automatically calculates the total usable area of the shelters on the grid and the total weight of all of the items. This information can be found at the bottom of the screen via Section E. You can also toggle back and forth between metric and imperial measurements via a button located at the far left of that section.

Using 2D or 3D Mode:

3D Mode, located at the top of the screen in Section C allows you to view the items in the 2D grid in 3D mode. Use the up/down arrows and plus/minus buttons to move your viewpoint within your configuration.  You may also go into full screen 3D or 2D mode by selecting the Full Screen 3D or Full Screen 2D buttons at the top right of the screen (Section F).

 Accessing Your Configuration:

In order to access and save your configuration, you will need to agree to be contacted by a DRASH representative. Although VTAP is a great tool for generally working out your complex, a DRASH representative can provide you with invaluable advice and suggestions for practical layout. Select Send to DRASH on the bottom right corner of the screen and click Yes when prompted to be contacted by a DRASH representative. You will need to fill out, at minimum, your name and email address. Once you click send, you will get an automatic email reply that includes a link to your saved configuration. This response email can then be forwarded to other email addresses as needed. Provided you are connected to the Internet, you or a colleague can access and edit the configuration by visiting the link.

Printing and Saving

To print your full configuration, go to full 2D or 3D Mode and press Print Screen on your keyboard. You can then paste this into any application and save it or print it out.
